NEW DELHI: Seven people aged between 12 and 17 sustained injuries in a shooting outside a downtown Indianapolis shopping mall on Saturday night, as per the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.
Police officers on patrol in the vicinity heard gunshots near the Circle Centre Mall just after 11.30pm.
Deputy chief Tanya Terry mentioned that “a large group of juveniles”, including six with gunshot wounds, was found at the scene and taken to nearby hospitals.
One victim’s condition improved from critical to stable, while the rest were reported as stable. Another injured juvenile arrived at a hospital separately and is also in stable condition.
“Once again, we have a situation in which young people are resolving conflict with firearms, and it has to stop,” Terry said, adding, “Conflict should not lead to somebody pulling out a gun and trying to resolve it. The consequences are eternal.”
No arrests have been made so far.
