BHOPAL: The Madhya Pradesh government on Thursday announced that the biography of Vinayak Damodar Savarkar will be taught as part of the state board school syllabus.
Congress hit out at the BJP-led government, saying it was a political decision ahead of the elections, and that it was an “insult to martyrs”.
The announcement comes six days after the BJP government in Uttar Pradesh said state board students would be taught about the lives of 50 great personalities, including Savarkar and Jan Sangh leader Deendayal Upadhyay.
On Thursday, state education minister Inder Parmar said, “We want to give equal importance to Savarkar and his contribution in freedom struggle.” “We will include biographies of true heroes and new syllabus will include Savarkar, Bhagavad Gita Sandesh, Lord Parshuram, Bhagat Singh, Rajguru others,” he said.
