Among the four deceased are two passengers, an RPF assistant sub-inspector (ASI), and a pantry car worker. All four bodies were removed from the train at Borivali station and sent to Babasaheb Ambedkar Hospital at Kandivali.
“The incident occurred in B5 coach at around 5.23am.The constable upon shooting his colleague, initially held passengers at gunpoint. Constable Chetan Kumar got down near Dahisar station and tried to flee after alarm chain pulling,” said Western Railway officials.

The accused was detained with the weapon at Mira Road by the GRP.
Police said his mental health condition was not okay. He was part of the escorting team on the train and was carrying an automatic weapon. He had complained of restlessness and was asked to rest. Later, he had said he was okay.
Top officials, including GRP commissioner Ravindra Shisve, reached the location to investigate the incident.
The police are investigating the trigger for the shootings.
DRM Neeraj Verma said, “This is an unfortunate incident. We are also examining the witnesses. We are trying to investigate from all angles.”
