After Twitterati went gaga over Deepika’s bold new avatar and Shah Rukh’s shirtless scenes and laughed out loud at the memes, now the song has found itself in the middle of plagiarism allegations.
The Hindi track that has already crossed the 32 million mark on YouTube has been plagued by allegations that a portion of the song is copied from French singer-songwriter Jain’s superhit track ‘Makeba’. Many took to Twitter to point out the striking similarities between the ‘Besharam Rang’ intro mix and ‘Makeba’.
“The moment I heard #BesharamRang I was thinking where the hell I heard these beats before, well took me a while figured that this is Makeba by Jain,” read a tweet that went on to slam musicians Vishal and Sheykhar.

“How the hell has no one guessed that it seems to have plagiarised the wonderfully talented Jain’s Makeba song or at least its main beat?” asked another.
“#BesharamRang background is a complete copy of the Makeba song by Jain! I do agree the tweaks made make it a bit more Bollywoody and catchy,” said another.
Released in 2015, ‘Makeba’ was nominated for a Grammy in the Best Music Video category.
Besharam Rang has been sung by Shilpa Rao, Shilpa Rao, Caralisa Monteiro, Vishal and Sheykhar. The track is the dance number from the upcoming SRK starrer that will see John Abraham as the antagonist.
The film hits the big screens on 25 January 2023.
