NEW DELHI: A Kiran trainer aircraft of the Indian Air Force crashed near Chamarajanagar district of Karnataka on Thursday.
The pilots managed to eject from the aircraft and landed safely using parachutes.
The incident happened near Makali village at Bogapura, 10km from Chamarajanagar town.
“Both pilots, identified as Tejpal and Bhumika, are safe. They have been airlifted to Bengaluru,” said officials.
The training aircraft had took off from the air force station in Bengaluru.
IAF officials have initiated a court of inquiry to ascertain the cause of the crash.
