Having started Day 3, trailing by 138 runs, England lost Ben Stokes on the second ball of the day which put them in early trouble. The hosts surrendered themselves to the short ball ploy by the Aussie pacers, losing the last six wickets for 47 runs. In the second essay, English bowlers began well and kept testing the two Aussie openers by bowling in the right channels. That said, they could only succeed in picking a couple of wickets and will have their work cut out on Day 4.
